Style Guide

This page contains the editorial standards used throughout The Canon of Nora.

The goal of these guidelines is to ensure that pages are consistent, easy to read, and easy to maintain.

Start Here

Before creating or editing pages, please review the following guides:

Core Principles

Accuracy

Whenever possible, information should come directly from the source material.

Consistency

Similar pages should be structured similarly.

Use the established templates whenever available.

Simplicity

Write for readers.

Avoid unnecessary detail that does not help readers understand the subject.

Collaboration

No page is ever truly finished.

Editors are encouraged to improve and expand existing pages.

Scope

The Canon of Nora aims to document the people, places, families, organizations, businesses, and stories found throughout the works of Nora Roberts and J.D. Robb.

The goal is to create a comprehensive reference resource while remaining approachable and easy to navigate.

In Death Coverage

Because Wiki in Death already provides exhaustive coverage of the In Death series, The Canon of Nora focuses on broader reference information.

Priority should be given to:

  • Main characters
  • Recurring supporting characters
  • Major locations
  • Important organizations
  • Significant relationships

The wiki generally does not attempt to document every one-time character, witness, victim, suspect, or incidental appearance.

When Creating New Pages

Ask yourself:

  • Does this subject appear in multiple books?
  • Will readers likely search for it?
  • Does it add useful information to the wiki?

If the answer is yes, it probably deserves a page.
