How The Canon of Nora Began

The idea for The Canon of Nora began during an episode of Podcast in Death, a fan podcast dedicated to the works of J.D. Robb.

Our guests were Heidi and Emily of the Romancing the Shelf podcast and we were discussing Wiki in Death, the remarkable fan-created reference for the In Death series. Over more than a decade, dedicated readers had worked together to build an extensive resource documenting characters, locations, timelines, and events from the series.

During that conversation, Emily made an observation that sparked an idea:

"I think it's so interesting that you guys work on this, and the In Death fans work collaboratively on this, but Nora fans don't have the same kind of thing."

The comment immediately resonated.

While Wiki in Death had become an invaluable resource for fans of Eve Dallas and Roarke, there was no comparable collaborative reference for the much larger body of work published under the Nora Roberts name.

Over the course of her career, Nora Roberts has created thousands of characters, hundreds of families, countless businesses and locations, and dozens of richly developed communities. Readers often remember a character, a town, a family name, or a beloved pet, but finding that information again can be surprisingly difficult.

The question became:

What if Nora Roberts readers had the same kind of shared resource that In Death fans had built together?

The Canon of Nora was created to answer that question.

This wiki is an ongoing effort by readers and fans to document, organize, and preserve the people, places, relationships, and stories that make up the worlds of Nora Roberts and J.D. Robb.

Like Wiki in Death, it is built one page at a time. Every character profile, family tree, location page, and book entry brings us closer to creating a comprehensive reference that any reader can use.

The Canon of Nora exists because readers love these stories and believe they are worth preserving, sharing, and exploring together.
